Beano & Dandy In 1994, Robert Harrop and his team were seeking a new range for their collectors. The aim was to develop a line of collectibles which reflected the idea of 'Britishness'. Robert Harrop's personal choice was to delight the readers of Britain's most popular comics: Beano and Dandy. The characters in these famous comics have delighted generations of children. As Robert Harrop said "Perhaps it was a personal thing, but to me the Beano and Dandy Comics are as much a part of my 'Britishness' as meat and two veg!" In April 1994, Robert Harrop telephoned the Beano offices in Dundee. The management of the Beano were interested in having their comic characters available as figurines. A meeting was arranged and soon after Dennis the Menace and his numerous pals became part of the Robert Harrop Designs family. | |
